Lines ++ Erin Luman

For ever and always artists in Gloucester, Ma have been drawn to the stacks upon stacks of houses. This series, by Gloucester, Ma artist Erin Luman, takes the view upwards toward the rooftops and holds it together with telephone poles and power lines.

Each piece is done on a custom wood board frame, hand made by Erin’s husband. Each canvas is then covered with glue and various vintage maps. The maps are nearly (sometimes completely) covered in acrylic paint. The architecture is traced on in pencil and then pen. Another wash of acrylic is added in various colors and then sometimes sanded off in places for more texture.
